Dermalogica Clear Start Blackhead Clearing Pore Control Scrub: Review & Swatches

Remember I spoke about getting an entire hamper of products from dermalogica, and reviewed some of them in the past, you can read about the face wash here and about the toner here. So, continuing with the other products that were part of the hamper. I was most excited to try this black head clearing pore control scrub because well who doesn’t like a smooth black head free nose. I get a few blackheads on my nose especially when I act lazy and skip on my scrubbing routine. The  instructions say to use this product daily, however, I am not comfortable scrubbing my skin everyday so I use this scrub about three times a week. So, let’s find out does the scrub really controls the pores and helps in clearing blackheads or not.

The scrub comes in a white tube with clear start written in green letters. The packaging looks nice standing in my bathroom. The tube is small enough to be carried around in the travel bag on the planes as well. The tube has a flip open cap which opens and shuts easily. So, if you wish to carry a scrub around when you travel, this one is the good guy here. It is also easy to identify how much product is remaining in the tube by holding the tube against light.

The scrub itself is white in color with micro scrubbing beads. The scrub spreads on easily and gently exfoliates my skin. Although I don’t use the scrub on daily basis but the scrub is gentle enough to be used daily. I apply the scrub to my damp face and massage using the tips of my fingers for good 2-3 minutes, following the same with washing my face with warm water. It has a faint citrus-y fragrance that is not bothersome to my nose. The fragrance is pleasant and definitely not over-powering.

The scrub give me cleaner feel with softer, smoother skin and lesser blackheads. The scrub contains tea tree oil and menthol that gives a refreshing feel to the skin. Menthol is also known to soothe and cool down the skin. Regular use gives clearer, fresher looking skin and definitely helps in reducing the number of blackheads. I don’t think the scrub does anything for the pores, they still look the same to me. But, I am still happy with what the scrub does for my skin. The scrub helps in reducing any redness that I have on my face, reduces the appearance of blackheads.

I find the product a little expensive, but a little goes a long way. I use a pea sized amount on my face and focus the scrubbing on and around my nose and the chin area. With thrice a week of regular use this tube of scrub has lasted me a long time. And, moreover, when the product works out well for me, I stop my cribbing about the price.

Price: $19.50 for 2.5 US fl. oz. / 75 ml. available at ulta.com dermalogica.com and amazon.com

Recommendation: So, this little white tube from dermalogica claims to help you with blackheads and pore control. And it does exactly what it claims. With regular use the scrub has given me softer, smoother clearer skin with less visible blackheads. You need a pea-sized amount of the scrub for your entire face, so the tube will last you a good amount of time. Thus, making it not so expensive. The little white tube is perfect to be carried around for vacations as well. This is my favorite product from the entire clear start range from dermalogica.

  1. Hi this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors
or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a
blog soon but have no coding expertise so I
wanted to get guidance from someone with experience.
Any help would be enormously appreciated!
