Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Cooling Masque: Review, Swatches, Pictures, Price & Availability

Another product that was part of the dermalogica kit was this breakout clearing cooling masque. I am not much of a masque person, I know I should be, but I am not. Usually, I have to force myself to sit down apply some face mask and wait for it to dry. I don’t have the level of patience required for this task. And if the mask happens to be one of those that do not dry upon application they have an even lesser chance of luring me in to apply it on my face. So, this was the major reason that this tube of cooling masque from the clear start range from dermalogica was lying in the corner for so long. Nevertheless, since the other products from the range happened to impress me so much I knew it was time that I had to go against my will. Let’s find out what does this cooling masque has to say about itself.

Like all the other products from the clear start range from dermalogica this one also comes in a white tube. The words clear start are mentioned on the tube in pretty teal blue color. The entire range of clear start products has this colorful packaging that looks super pretty on your bathroom shelf. You can read about the other products from this range here. The tube has a flip open cap that shuts well, so there are no chances of spillage even if you travel with this. The nozzle is small making it easier to control the amount of product being dispensed. Don’t we all hate when the faulty packaging causes product wastage?? But, luckily that is not the case with this.

The cooling masque has a very faint menthol kind of fragrance that stays on for a few minutes. Although the product fragrance does not bother me much. The masque itself has a gel like consistency and is very easy to spread on the face. It has a light blue tint to it but somehow goes clear on the face. However, this makes it a little difficult to identify if the product has been spread all around the face or not.

As directed, I let the masque sit on my face for around 8-10 minutes and wash it off with warm water. Now, the masque does give me slight cooling sensation for few minutes post application but nothing over-the-top. I have used a product for some time now, and I can definitely say that it helps in reducing the redness on the face and soothes away the irritation as well. I think this helps in reducing acne in long run but not really acne marks. The face mask is more of like a face gel that just sits on the skin. It isn’t absorbed by the skin neither does is harden like the traditional masks. For the period of time that you’ve applied this mask, it sure makes your face super shiny but that’s no big deal for me.

Recommendation: Personally, I don’t have huge acne problem, so I do not go out and buy products specifically targeted towards acne. Also, I am usually afraid that these anti-acne products will further dry out my super-dry skin. Although, surprisingly this mask feels good on the skin more so like a face gel and does not dry out my skin. The cooling mask from dermalogica gives a soothing finish and helps reduce acne in long run. The mask does work on reducing the appearance of acne but not acne marks as such. I highly recommend this range and this product in particular to acne-prone skin.
