Stila Look At Me Liquid Lipstick in Bella and Beso: Review, Swatches, LOTD

You know my love for reds, I think I really like this color because almost all the shades of red brighten up my face. Unfortunately, that is not the case with my other favorite color pink. I’ve got two different shades of the stila look at me liquid lipsticks for review today. My first liquid lisptick was NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, and I must say, I have been hooked. So, whenever I get an opportunity to try a liquid lipstick, I never fail to miss this opportunity. One of these lipstick came in my birchbox a month ago and I have been religiously using these since then. Let’s jump in the review and find out the description for these.

What it is: A highly-pigmented, liquid lipstick that’s weightless on the lips and delivers long-lasting coverage.

What it does: This creamy, full-coverage lip color provides intense hydration with bold, long-lasting pigment that stays put for up to six hours of continuous wear. Featuring an array of matte and shimmer shades, this lip formula imparts a comfortable texture that feels lightweight on lips, and its color-rich formula does not bleed or transfer. Enriched with vitamin E and avocado oil, Stay All Day® Liquid Lipstick hydrates and softens lips so they look and feel beautiful.

What it is formulated WITHOUT: Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates

What else you need to know: This product is free of synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, GMOs, and triclosan.

The liquid lipstick comes in standard lip gloss tube with a doe-foot applicator. The applicator picks up product on both sides and a little too much product as well. Liquid lipsticks are not easy to work with, so I usually wipe of almost all the product from the wand and apply thin layers of the product on my lips. This also helps in avoiding the lipstick from being gunky. A single layer of these work well in covering the lips, but I usually apply two layers to cover the slight pigmentation on my lips and to further improve the staying power.

The formula of these liquid lipsticks is beyond perfection, they glide on smoothly and the pigmentation is bang on. Since the product is highly pigmented it has slight staining power, so one needs to be very careful in the application. I have tried applying these lipsticks with a lip brush also and they work perfectly this way as well. It takes a few minutes to dry down and set to more of a matte finish and feels slightly sticky until then. But, 5-7 minutes later, you can hardly feel the presence of a lipstick on your lips. Another plus about the formula is that it is one of the least drying matte lipstick available out there. I hardly need to reapply my lip balm throughout the day after I have applied these lipsticks and with my super dry lips that is a huge plus. I think the latest re-addition of these eos lip balms in my vanity has also got something to do with it, you can read about these lip balms here. Like any matte lipsticks you need to prep and prime your lips before applying these lipsticks and you are good to go for almost the entire day.

These liquid lipsticks are highly pigmented and both the colors are really bold. I am all about bold lip colors and these two perfectly fit my requirements. So, the best application tip for these lipsticks is that you scrape off as much color as you can from the wand and build up the color by layering it on. The staying power is also amazing. They pass the staying challenge of 8+ hours and even when they fade out they leave a tint on your lips. I always like lipsticks that leave a tint on the lips, don’t you feel weird when you enter a party with full on color on your lips and leave the party with bare lips, I hate it. Anyways, so you will not feel this awkwardness with these lipsticks, as they stay on your lips for a long time and do not leave them bare at the end of the day as well. Re-application of these lipsticks is also not a huge task, again if you apply a thin layer of the color on your lips sometime after you shouldn’t have any problem.

The shade Bella is described as bright pink and is very true to the description. It is more of a cool toned pink and looks slightly neon-ish on me with some eye makeup looks. So, I need to pair this color accordingly. I usually use a toned down version of this color.

Beso is described as a true red and is again true to it’s description. The color is red and does not has any pink or orange undertones. I like this shade more than bella because it suits my face better than the other one.

Price: $24 for 0.10 oz at sephora.com and $20 for the deluxe sample trio at birchbox.com

Recommendation: These are one of the best matte lipsticks available out there. The liquid lipsticks are insanely pigmented, glide on smoothly, do not dry out your lips and most importantly stay all day long. The lipsticks really force you to look at me. If you are in for pink, orange and red shades, pick up the trio at birchbox or select one of the many shades available at Sephora. The choice is yours and the recommendation is mine.
